AHIMA Presents 2023 Grace Award to AmeriHealth Caritas

Amberwell Atchison receives an honorable mention

CHICAGO – October 10, 2023 – Today, the American Health Information Management Association® (AHIMA) announced it has awarded AmeriHealth Caritas with its 2023 Grace Award. The award, named for AHIMA Founder Grace Whiting Myers, honors organizations that demonstrate excellence in health information (HI). AHIMA presented AmeriHealth Caritas with this honor at the AHIMA23 Conference on October 9 in Baltimore, MD.

More than 90 years ago, Myers founded the Association on the conviction that advancing the quality of patient health records advances healthcare quality. AHIMA continues the annual recognition of the Grace Award to honor healthcare delivery organizations for their innovative and novel approaches to using HI to deliver high-quality patient care.

“This year’s winner has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the patient care experience and population health, reducing capital costs, and a commitment to employee mentorship and volunteerism. They have truly exemplified what the Grace Award stands for and more,” said AHIMA President/Chair Jennifer Mueller, MBA, RHIA, SHIMSS, FACHE, FAHIMA.

The Grace Award Committee noted that AmeriHealth Caritas continuously strives to provide innovative programs relying on HI to drive strategic partnerships around maternal health, food security, and mental health.

This year, AHIMA presented Amberwell Atchison with an honorable mention for its innovative focus on educating patients about their patient portal and high-quality, effective, and cost-efficient maternity care.
