AHIMA Education Programs

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) provides continuing education, professional development, certificate programs, and workforce training for health information professionals.

Illinois Board of Higher Education Approval

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is approved by the Private Business and Vocational Schools Division of the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). AHIMA is not accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. Approval by the Illinois Board of Higher Education does not constitute accreditation.

Student Complaint Policy 

AHIMA is committed to providing high-quality educational experiences. Students are encouraged to resolve concerns directly with AHIMA before seeking assistance from outside agencies.

Internal Complaint Process 

Students wishing to file a complaint should:

Submit the complaint in writing to AHIMA. 

AHIMA will review the complaint and respond in accordance with its internal complaint procedures.

Students should first attempt to resolve complaints directly with AHIMA before submitting a complaint to the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

Student Records

AHIMA maintains student records in accordance with applicable laws and organizational policies.

Access the secure inquiry form on the contact us page. Students (or any customer/stakeholder) can submit their question directly through the form. In the inquiry form, the individual would select the topic “Certification” and subtopic “Transcript/Early Tester Inquiry (for RHIT/RHIA).”

Student Outcomes

Student outcome information is maintained in accordance with Illinois Board of Higher Education reporting requirements.

Outcome information is available upon request or as required by Illinois law.

Students are responsible for ensuring they have:

  • Reliable internet access
  • A supported web browser
  • Audio capability (speakers/headset)
  • Any additional technology requirements listed for individual programs
