Biography

Robin Poole, BS, RHIA, CHPS, CRCR is an experienced health information management leader with a proven track record of advancing data integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across complex healthcare organizations. She currently serves as Director of Health Information Management at Bryan Health in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she leads system wide HIM operations and drives strategic initiatives to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficient management of health information.

In her role, Robin oversees all HIM functions, including policy development, regulatory readiness, productivity measurement, and enterprise-wide standardization of processes. She collaborates closely with clinical, revenue cycle, privacy, and compliance teams to support accurate documentation, optimize reimbursement, and uphold the integrity and security of patient information. She also serves as Privacy Officer for critical access hospital locations, reinforcing her commitment to patient rights and data protection.

Robin brings deep expertise in health information systems and technology, supported by her previous roles as an Epic Application Analyst and HIM Manager. She has led implementation and optimization efforts for electronic health record systems, served as a credentialed trainer, and contributed as a subject matter expert on cross-functional projects. Her work has consistently focused on improving workflows, enhancing data quality, and aligning technology with clinical and operational needs.

A dedicated advocate for the HIM profession, Robin actively contributes to industry advancement through volunteer service with AHIMA. She participates in multiple initiatives, including the Privacy Community of Practice, Access to Health Data Community, and the HIM Foundations Microcredential Committee. She has also supported certification-related efforts and workforce development initiatives, demonstrating a strong commitment to professional growth and standards.

Robin holds a bachelor’s degree in healthcare business administration and an associate’s degree in health information management from Clarkson College, graduating summa cum laude in both programs. She maintains several professional credentials, including Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS), and Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR).

Known for her collaborative leadership style, strong communication skills, and strategic mindset, Robin is passionate about developing high-performing teams and advancing the role of health information in improving patient care and organizational outcomes.

Explain how your professional skills, abilities, and strengths complement the CCHIIM mission?   

My experience and professional strengths align closely with the mission of CCHIIM to advance competency, certification, and excellence in health informatics and information management. As a Health Information Management Director, I lead system wide HIM operations with a focus on regulatory compliance, data integrity, and standardized practices that promote high professional standards. 

I bring a strong background in health IT, revenue cycle, privacy, and documentation integrity, supported by credentials including RHIA, CHPS, and CRCR. My experience implementing and optimizing electronic health record systems and serving as a subject matter expert has reinforced my commitment to ensuring that HIM professionals are equipped with relevant, evolving competencies. 

In addition to my leadership role, I actively contribute to the profession through AHIMA volunteer work, including participation in certification-related and professional practice initiatives. These experiences demonstrate my dedication to advancing workforce readiness, supporting certification value, and ensuring alignment between industry needs and professional standards. 

As a commissioner, I would leverage my leadership, strategic perspective, and passion for professional development to support CCHIIM’s mission, ensuring that certification programs remain rigorous, relevant, and reflective of the evolving healthcare landscape.
