Lisa Grimes, RHIT, CDIP, CCS

Biography

Lisa has over 30 years of experience in Health Information Management including HIM Management, revenue cycle optimization, medical coding and auditing, privacy compliance and HIT education. Currently she is serving as an Operational Performance Expert in the Revenue Cycle Services Coding Quality Department at Indiana University Health where she specializes in defending IU Health against insurance payment recoupments, overpayments, and coding denials. She utilizes this platform to help educate coding staff and she is passionate about upholding coding ethics and integrity. She holds an associate degree in Health Information Technology and has successfully achieved the CDIP and CCS credentials. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, gardening and riding her Harley.

Position Statement

Explain how your professional skills, abilities, and strengths complement the CCHIIM mission?  

I am seeking your vote for CCHIIM Commission because I want to contribute to the organization that has supported my career for the past 30 plus years by actively participating in the established certification and recertification processes at AHIMA. I simply would not be the person I am today without AHIMA and its role in my professional career as the RHIT, CDIP, and CCS credentials have allowed me to advance my career and set a preemptive expectation of the level of professional behind the credentials. In the past I have written test questions for the RHIT and CCS credential exams, but this role would allow me to contribute at a much higher level, and I look forward to this exciting potential opportunity.
