Position Statement
AHIMA's core values are Integrity, Bold, and Inclusive. How would you incorporate these into your service if elected as House of Delegates Speaker-elect?
If elected as House of Delegates Speaker-elect I will incorporate all three of AHIMA's core values (integrity, bold, and inclusive) into my role and here is how I would do it.
Integrity means consistently doing what is right even when no one is watching. In short, I will speak up when I feel something is wrong and I will make my decisions based on what is right, not necessarily what is easy. I will be transparent and truthful in my communications as I support the Speaker and the House of Delegates. In my role as Speaker-elect, I will do the right thing, stick to my principles, and be consistent in my actions.
Bold means being willing to act with courage, even when the situation involves uncertainty. I consider myself a confident person. I am not afraid to speak up. I am decisive in that I can make tough calls when needed. I do not settle for the status quo, and I will encourage the Speaker and AHIMA delegates to think beyond traditional boundaries and take the initiative to lean into something new, even if it is uncomfortable.
Inclusive means intentionally creating an environment that is all-encompassing, where no one is left out. I will make sure that I help the Speaker create safe spaces where people feel comfortable speaking up. I will assist the Speaker to ensure that all voices are heard and all perspectives shared. I will not just treat everyone the same, I will help give people what they need to succeed. As Speaker-elect I will make sure everyone has a seat at the table and a voice that matters.
Why vote for me? I have a proven track record of leadership and service within the HIM profession. I believe in AHIMA's mission. I understand the challenges our members face because I have lived them. I am not only prepared to serve, but I am also prepared to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
