David D. Cella

Dave Cella is the CEO of AHIMA as of November 2025. Prior to becoming CEO, he served as President for HCPro, AHIMA's wholly-owned subsidiary, since 2023 and has also served as a member of AHIMA's executive team.

With more than 20 years of executive leadership experience, Dave’s deep understanding of product development, training, and education in healthcare gives him unique insight as he leads the enterprise to improve health information for patients, providers, payers, and systems. 

Prior to joining AHIMA and HCPro, he served as Chief Product Officer for Simplify Compliance, HCPro’s parent company, for five years, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company's strategy and direction. 

Before his time at Simplify Compliance, Dave held executive positions including Vice President of Product Management and Executive Publisher for Jones and Bartlett Learning, as well as Vice President of Product Operations for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA/Ascend Learning). His diverse background also includes serving as Publishing Director, Life Sciences at Elsevier. 

Dave holds an MBA from Babson College and a Bachelor of Science in Resource Economics from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He is also certified in Pragmatic Marketing.
