AHIMA CEO Wylecia Wiggs Harris Named to Modern Healthcare Top Women Leaders List

CHICAGO – February 21, 2022 – The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA®) is proud to announce AHIMA CEO Wylecia Wiggs Harris, PhD, CAE, has been recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of 2022’s Top Women Leaders. This annual program recognizes top women executives who are influencing policy and care delivery models across the country. In choosing recipients, Modern Healthcare sought leaders who are passionate about nurturing diversity in healthcare.

This recognition comes on the heels of Modern Healthcare naming Harris a Top Diversity Leader last year. Harris is joined on the Top Women Leaders list by executives from Walgreens Boots Alliance, Kaiser Permanente, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and more.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition and grateful to Modern Healthcare for their coverage of our industry,” Harris said. “Women have come a long way since I began my career, but with fewer than 10 percent of Fortune 500 companies led by women CEOs, we need more women represented in board rooms and C-suites.”

AHIMA President/Chair Tim Keough, MPA, RHIA, FAHIMA, said this recognition for Harris was well-deserved.

“I’m not surprised Modern Healthcare named Wylecia to its Top Women Leaders list,” Keough said. “She is one of the finest leaders I’ve worked with in my career and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Wylecia is passionate about using public policy to reduce and eliminate health disparities and she played a key role in the development and publication of the AHIMA Policy Statement on Health Equity.”

Harris will speak at AHIMA®22, the annual conference dedicated to health information, taking place October 9-12 in Columbus, Ohio.
