Timeline for the 2021 Nomination and Election Process

(Please note some logistics and dates within this timeline are subject to change)

  • March 31 - Deadline for submitting the Volunteer Application online. Applicants should go to org, upload a photo and enter brief bio information in the contents of your profile. All submissions due by close of business. Please note all required materials (resume, three current letters of recommendation) are due in the volunteer application. Your brief bio and photo are required to be uploaded in your myAHIMA profile. All information is due at the time of submission. All recommendation letters must be signed by the recommender, and if possible, on letterhead.
  • April - Nominating Committee to review nominations and conduct telephone interviews with all nominees.
  • May - Nominating Committee meets to select the 2021 Ballot Candidates.
  • May - Ballot Candidates provide profile and other information for the AHIMA Ballot to appear in the June Journal of AHIMA.
  • Mid-June - The 2021 Ballot Candidate bios and photos are posted on the AHIMA Web site and on the online AHIMA Membership, State Leaders and House of Delegates Communities. CSA Leaders will also feature candidates on their Web sites.
  • June 28 through July 9, 2021 - AHIMA National Candidate Discussions Forum on online AHIMA Membership community.
  • June - AHIMA Ballot candidates are featured in the June issue of the Journal of AHIMA.
  • July 12 at 8 a.m. CT through July 26 at 5 p.m. CT - AHIMA Polls open.
  • Late July - Announcement of the 2021 AHIMA Election Results.
