Call for Elected Leadership Nominations

We are seeking qualified candidates who are passionate about driving the profession forward and making a real impact on the future of Health Information. Descriptions, duties, and qualifications for each of these elected positions are available on the Get Involved web page. All terms begin on January 1, 2025. Applications are due March 31, 2024.

2024 Nomination and Election Process Timeline

(Please note some logistics and dates within this timeline are subject to change)

March 31, 2024, at 11:45 p.m. CT

Deadline for submitting the Volunteer Application.

Applicants will need to respond to application questions and must submit a resume or CV, required letters of recommendation and a current photo. All documents are required by the application deadline.

  • All recommendation letters must be current (within the last 6 months), signed by the recommender, and if possible, on letterhead.
  • Members from the following groups are not eligible to write letters of recommendation: Nominating Committee, Board of Directors, Foundation Board of Directors, CCHIIM, CEE, AHIMA staff.

 

For AHIMA Board and Speaker-elect nominees, you must also submit a Disclosure Statement for Directors.

April 2024 AHIMA Nominating Committee to review nominations and conduct telephone interviews with all nominees. Each nominee will have a 30-45 minute interview with two members of the AHIMA Nominating Committee.
May 2024

AHIMA Nominating Committee meets to select the 2024 Ballot Candidates.

  • Nominees for the position of President/Chair-elect will be interviewed by the AHIMA Nominating Committee via teleconference.
  • Nominees will be notified at the meeting’s conclusion if selected for the AHIMA Ballot or not.
May 2024

Ballot Candidates complete their candidate profile in the AHIMA online Ballot software.

  • As part of the candidate profile, candidates must upload a brief bio and photo in their myAHIMA profile.
  • Candidates may create a campaign video and campaign flyers to be shared on the AHIMA Ballot Candidate website. Each must be submitted to AHIMA staff for approval.
Mid-June 2024 (date to be finalized)

The 2024 Ballot Candidate Webinar takes place. The webinar will review campaign guidelines and video production best practices as well as next steps in the process.

Mid-June 2024 (date to be finalized) The 2024 Ballot candidates' bios and photos are posted on the AHIMA website. CA Leaders will also feature candidates on their websites.
June-July 2024 (date to be finalized) Ballot Candidates are invited to attend the AHIMA CA Leadership Symposium to be introduced.
July 2024 (dates to be finalized) AHIMA Election Polls open.
Late July 2024 Announcement of the 2024 AHIMA Election Results.
End of July through mid-August 2024 (dates to be finalized) Delegates vote on the 2025 Speaker-elect and Nominating Committee members.
January 1, 2025 Elected positions begin. (Most include orientation during autumn 2024.)
