Debbie Hamada, Ed.D., MA, RHIA

Debbie Hamada

Debbie Hamada, Ed.D., MA, RHIA, is an Assistant Professor and Chair for the Loma Linda University HIIMA Department. She currently teaches in the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration, the Master of Science in Health Informatics programs and the Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration (BSHCA) programs. She completed her baccalaureate studies at The College of Saint Scholastica, her master’s from the University of Redlands, and her doctoral degree at the University of Southern California.  

After spending eight years in healthcare operations managing in the areas of medical information, quality improvement, utilization review, case management and medical staff operations, Hamada began her career in academia in 1992.  She taught as an adjunct faculty member until 2006 when she assumed a full-time teaching position. Hamada has volunteered in many capacities at national, state, and local levels including serving as a CCHIIM Commissioner, CAHIIM Peer Reviewer and a Board Director for the California Health Information Association.  Currently, she is a member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). Hamada has published in professional journals and offered various educational presentations.
