AHIMA, Moxe Highlight AHIMA dHealth™ at Frontiers Health Global Conference
AHIMA dHealth helps healthcare providers, plans and clearinghouses to discover digital health products that follow best practices for privacy and security protection
CHICAGO – November 11, 2021 – AHIMA experts spoke about personal health information and introduced AHIMA dHealth™ to an international audience at the Frontiers Health Global Conference, which took place both in Milan, Italy, and virtually, on November 11. AHIMA dHealth is a solution that providers and other healthcare stakeholders can use to discover digital health applications, including ones that have passed an AHIMA assessment showing they secure and protect patient data. AHIMA worked with Moxe, a clinical data clearinghouse focusing on interoperability solutions, to develop AHIMA dHealth.
In addition to introducing AHIMA dHealth, AHIMA experts discussed how personal health information flows between providers and digital health applications in the US.

James Pinnick, AHIMA’s vice president of content and licensing, said the association was honored to host a session at the conference. The Frontiers Health Global Conference bills itself as a premier global digital health innovation event, with a focus on digital therapies, breakthrough technologies, healthcare transformation and more. Thought leaders, policy makers, industry players and representatives from innovative companies were all in attendance.
Pinnick was joined by Moxe Founder and CEO Dan Wilson; Lauren Riplinger, JD, AHIMA’s vice president of policy and government affairs; and Keith Olenik, MA, RHIA, CHP, AHIMA’s chief member relations and service officer, who moderated the session titled “Navigating the Growth of Digital Health Products Using Patient Data in the US: Why AHIMA Created AHIMA dHealth.”
In addition to speaking about the flow of personal health information between providers and digital health applications, the group also talked about how the AHIMA dHealth Assessment offers covered entities a reputable resource for critical information about a digital health product’s privacy and data security practices and policies. If a digital health product passes the assessment, it receives AHIMA dHealth Approval and is listed in a directory where providers and payers can see it passed the assessment and can be counted on as a trusted resource.
Pinnick said AHIMA dHealth is a win for providers, payers, digital health companies, and patients.
“With the significant growth and investment in digital health along with the complex and fragmented landscape of regulations and provider processes for accessing data, there is a need for industry solutions that put the patient first,” Pinnick said. “AHIMA dHealth was created to be a trusted source of information and assessment of digital health companies’ commitment to privacy and security of patients’ health information.”
