Theresa Rihanek, MHA, RHIA, CCS
Director, HIM Practice Excellence
Theresa Rihanek is a Director of HIM Practice Excellence at the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Ms. Rihanek provides professional expertise to members in the areas of mapping, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT. She also serves as staff liaison for the Clinical Terminology and Classification Practice Council. In addition, she is an AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS trainer. She provides her expertise to AHIMA members and outside organizations through articles, publications, and presentations.
Prior to joining AHIMA, Ms. Rihanek served in a variety of traditional and non-traditional health information management settings including acute care hospitals, physician practice, consulting and also for a vendor that provided DRG and APC payment validations. Ms. Rihanek is an experienced HIM educator who has presented at many seminars and educational sessions on coding-related topics.
