Therese Jorwic has presented numerous workshops and developed educational material for in-class and online courses ICD-10-CM/PCS, ICD-9-CM, and HCPCS/CPT coding as well as reimbursement systems for hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers and associations.
Teri is the past president and recipient of the Distinguished Member award for both the Chicago area and Illinois Health Information Management Associations. She is the immediate past co-chairman and member of the American Health Information Management Association’s (AHIMA's) Practice Council on Clinical Terminology and Classification, and has served as chairman of AHIMA’s Council on Coding and Classification. She was the first Chairman of the AHIMA Society for Clinical Coding and is a recipient of the AHIMA’s Pioneer and Literary Awards. She is a past chairman and member of the Construction Committee for the Certified Coding Associate Examination. Ms. Jorwic received the Amoco Silver Circle, Excalibur, and Educator of the Year awards for teaching excellence at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Ms. Jorwic is the author of several articles and publications, including the ICD-9-CM for Physician Practices text, and educational materials for a variety of organizations, including AHIMA. She is a monthly columnist for the Medical Office Manager newsletter and a member of the editorial board for the Journal of the American Health Information Management Association.
