Ryan H. Sandefer, MA, CPHIT

Ryan Sandefer is Assistant Professor and the Chair of the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management at the College of St. Scholastica. Currently, Mr. Sandefer teaches courses in data analytics, research design, and program evaluation and monitoring. Mr. Sandefer has a master’s degree in political science and is a PhD candidate in health informatics at the University of Minnesota. Mr. Sandefer also holds a Certified Professional in Health Information Technology (CPHIT) credential. Mr. Sandefer is currently serving as the Chair-elect of AHIMA’s Council for Excellence in Education (CEE), is a member of the AHIMA Foundations Graduate Resource Alliance, is serving on the AHIMA Foundation’s research network, and is on the Editorial Review Board for AHIMA’s two scholarly publications, Perspectives in Health Information Management and Educational Perspectives in Health Informatics and Information Management. Mr. Sandefer is also a current presenter for the AHIMA faculty development regional meetings, and has presented numerous times at AHIMA’s Assembly on Education and the AHIMA National Convention. Prior to his current position, Mr. Sandefer served as a research coordinator at the Center for Healthcare Innovation at The College of St. Scholastica and as a research scientist at Center for Rural Health Research and Education at the University of Wyoming.
