Patricia L. Shaw, MEd, RHIA, FAHIMA

Ms. Shaw received the Dumke College of Health Professions Teacher of the Year Award in 2002 and in 2009, the Marriott Recognition Award for Outstanding Service, and the Lowe Faculty Award for Innovative Teaching.  

Ms. Shaw holds a certificate as an AHIMA Trainer for ICD-10-CM/PCS. She served on the AHIMA Board of Directors from 2007 to 2009, the AHIMA Council on Certification, and the AHIMA State Advocacy Workgroup, and currently is a member of the AHIMA Fellowship Review Committee. Ms. Shaw also served the Utah Health Information Management Association as president and secretary/treasurer, and is currently a member of the UHIMA Legislative Committee.

Ms. Shaw has numerous publications and presentations to her credit. She is the lead author for Quality and Performance Improvement in Healthcare and Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Exam Preparation, both published by AHIMA. Ms. Shaw has presented on a variety of health information management (HIM) topics at the AHIMA Assembly on Education meetings and at various component state association meetings over the years.
