Norb Belz, Ph.D., MHSA, RHIA
Norb Belz, Ph.D., MHSA, RHIA, is the department chair for Health Information Management (HIM) at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC). Since 2008, he has taught many courses in the program, including health law, healthcare delivery systems, reimbursements, leadership, and professional development. He also is currently serving as the chair of the KUMC Core Curriculum Committee. Prior to his faculty appointment to the department, Norb worked in the Center for Telemedicine and Telehealth at KUMC where his responsibilities included project management, strategic planning, and the leadership for numerous federal, state, and foundation grants. He also worked with the Center for Child Health and Development in various interprofessional mentoring and training capacities. In 2016, Norb was selected to be part of AHIMA’s Graduate Curriculum Taskforce. Norb received his bachelor's degree in HIM from Saint Louis University, a master's degree in health services administration from KUMC, and his Ph.D. in health policy and management from KUMC. Norb is dedicated to creating applied learning experiences, interprofessional education, and mentoring students and faculty to become leaders in healthcare.
