Mariruth (Mari) Petrik, MBA, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P

Mari Petrik has worked for 15 years in both acute and ambulatory settings in a variety of roles involving coding, quality management, medical staff services, Joint Commission accreditation and HIPAA implementation. She is a tenured faculty member and has been employed in academia for nine years.

For many years, Ms. Petrik has been a volunteer for her regional association, the Chicago Area Health Information Management Association (CAHIMA), has held various board positions, and is currently president-elect. She has been an active AHIMA member and served most recently on the ICD-10 Academic Transition Workgroup and the CCS Job Analysis Task Force.

Ms. Petrik has authored several articles for her regional association and has contributed to practice briefs for the Journal of AHIMA on the topic of transitioning to ICD-10-CM/PCS in the academic setting. She has presented at the AHIMA Assembly on Education and in both academic and non-academic settings.
