Marlee Matlin

Academy Award-Winning Actress and Activist

At 21 years old, Marlee Matlin became the youngest recipient for the Academy Award for her debut performance in “Children of A Lesser God,” and only one of four actresses to receive the honor for her very first film; she was also honored by The Hollywood Foreign Press with a Golden Globe for Best Actress. Marlee has gone on to star in over 30 films and television programs, garnering two Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress and four Emmy nominations. Marlee has also starred on the Emmy Award winning drama, The West Wing as well as the provocative Showtime drama., The L Word. Most recently, Marlee joined the cast of the ABC Family groundbreaking drama, Switched at Birth.

Marlee is also author, having written three novels for children as well as her New York Times Best Selling Autobiography, I’ll Scream Later. Marlee sits on the boards of a number of charitable organizations including the American Red Cross, Children Affected by AIDS Foundation and The National Domestic Violence Hotline. Marlee was appointed by President Clinton and confirmed by the Senate to the Board of Directors for the Corporation for National Service and honored in a White House ceremony celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act by President Barack Obama.
