Lesley Kadlec, MA, RHIA, CHDA

Director, HIM Practice Excellence

Lesley Kadlec, MA, RHIA, CHDA, currently serves as director of HIM Practice Excellence at AHIMA. In her role, Ms. Kadlec provides professional expertise on EHRs, transcription, and multiple facets of HIM operations in prospective payment system (PPS) and critical access hospitals as well as large and small physician practices. Ms. Kadlec focuses on HIM standards, information governance, and industry best practice. She advocates on current and emerging issues that impact various facets of health information management.

Ms. Kadlec has more than 20 years of experience in HIM, working in various healthcare settings including physician practices and acute care hospitals. Prior to joining AHIMA, Ms. Kadlec worked as the Director of Health Information Management for the University of Minnesota Physicians in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Ms. Kadlec received her B.S. in Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Health Information Management from The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. She also holds a graduate certificate in Informatics from College of St. Scholastica. She provides expertise to AHIMA members through written articles, HIM publications, toolkits, practice briefs and presentations.
