AHIMA Academic Program Design Workshops
Spend the day with the AHIMA Director of Education and discover what you need to know to design a successful new or continuing HIM academic program.
Who should attend?
College administrators, program directors, new faculty, curriculum designers and current faculty. The workshop focus is on:
- Associate degree Health Information Technology (HIT) programs, and
- Baccalaureate degree Health Information Management (HIM) programs
Workshop Content
Administrative Concerns:
- Program placement
- Faculty recruitment and development
- Developing a strong advisory committee
- Managing affiliations sites for PPE
- Planning for program growth
- Specialty Options: tracks, progression programs and PBCs
Teaching Techniques:
- Maximizing AHIMA resources
- Curriculum design: meeting curriculum standards
- Teaching to level: incorporating Bloom's taxonomy
- How to assess student competencies (lab based)
- How to evaluate student learning (exam based)
- How to incorporate V-lab throughout the curriculum
- Creating fair and representative tests
- Distance learning techniques that work
- Designing meaningful PPEs (internships)
- Prepping the students for certification exams
