Faculty

Leslie Ann Fox, MA, RHIA, is CEO and co-founder of Care Communications, Inc., an HIM staffing and consulting company dedicated to advancing e-HIM best practices in healthcare organizations throughout the US. Since founding Care Communications in 1976, Ms. Fox has directed the development of more than 30 seminars and publications on HIM department management and quality management methodologies. In addition to her expertise in HIM, Ms. Fox developed Systems-based Leadership and Change Management™, an approach to leadership and change management based on the application of Bowen Family Systems Theory to organizations.

Patricia Thierry Sheridan, MBA, RHIA, CCS, is president of Care Communications, Inc. Mrs. Sheridan is a results-oriented change agent and has a strong background in HIM, business and systems development and implementation. She leads CARE’s development and implementation of innovative solutions for both HIM systems and business challenges. Mrs. Sheridan is a graduate of Kean College of New Jersey with a Bachelor’s in Health Information Management and an MBA from Baruch College of the City University of New York. She completed a 12-month leadership program focused on applying Bowen Family Systems Theory to the workplace and continues to pursue graduate-level work in this area.

Coaches

Katharine G. Baker, DSW, is executive coach, Care Communications, Inc. Dr. Baker provides business consultation, organizational learning services, strategic planning facilitation, time management training, and executive coaching to managers, supervisors, and consultants in leadership positions in diverse work environments. Dr. Baker is a member of CARE’s change management and leadership coaching team, which provides on-site and remote seminar and coaching services to HIM Departments.

Dr. Baker has led training seminars for the World Bank, the American Family Therapy Association, the Foreign Service Institute, Global Business Access, and Peace Corps. She also developed training, orientation, and consultation services for World Learning/Experiment in International Living. She has trained senior executives of the Mobil Corporation working in Asia and Kazakhstan, and employees of US West, working in the former Soviet Union.

Sydney Reed, MSW, is Executive Coach, Care Communications, Inc. Ms. Reed is a founder and member of the faculty of the Center for Family Consultation and the Women’s Leadership Institute, organizations that provide post-graduate programs on Systems Theory in Families and Organizations. She is a graduate of the Jane Addams School of Social Work, University of Illinois, and the Post-Graduate Program of the Family Center, Georgetown University Medical Center. She has also maintained a private coaching practice in Evanston, IL, since 1973.
