Security

AHIMA uses the 128-bit secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security protocol, which is an industry standard tool used to provide data encryption. SSL protects the personal information transmitted from your computer to AHIMA, allowing for safe transmission of credit card information over the Internet.

Our e-commerce/SSL application server works with most web browsers (Netscape version 7.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 or higher are required); however, AHIMA recommends that you try to use the latest versions of browser software.

There are two ways to verify that your credit card information is secure:

  1. The address line or URL of the secure page starts with "https" (i.e., https://secure.ahima.org/quiz/quiz2.html).
  2. You will see an unbroken key or closed lock, usually in the lower left corner or lower right corner of your browser screen.

If you receive an error message when trying to enter a secure page, it may be blocked by your company's firewall. Ask your system administrator to reconfigure the firewall to open port 443, which is the port used for secure http.

New Security Measures

In order to reduce the need to rekey your personal information, our secure server stores your information in a database based on unique session ID numbers. However, this information expires after a two-hour period, so you will need to rekey your information if more than two hours elapse between the completion of one quiz and the taking of another.
