Known Problems with AOL

AHIMA's Web site is best viewed using Netscape or Internet Explorer's latest browsers. If you use America Online (AOL), we recommend you connect to the Internet via AOL, then open up a separate browser to access the site and the quizzes. AOL users may experience some problems with our online quiz service due to AOL's policy to "time-out" (disconnect users who have not been actively using any of the AOL features) users after a certain time period of inactivity.

Some of our members who choose to read the article as they take the quiz may be logged off of the Internet by AOL before finishing their quiz. Although AOL does use pop-up windows to ask users if they want to remain connected, this screen is usually not visible while using the Web browser. To prevent timing out, you can try to periodically check your main AOL screen—you can minimize your browser window to look at the main AOL screen, then expand the screen to continue.

If you are inadvertently logged off before you can return and continue to take the quiz, you will not be charged additionally for this. Our system only records a quiz as completed once you have submitted the quiz for scoring and received the confirmation page. If you are logged off before you can submit the quiz, simply re-connect and log back into the system, the quiz should still be available to complete.

Other options are to locate, print out, and read the articles before you enroll to take the quiz. All companion articles to the quizzes are available on AHIMA's Web site. Journal quiz articles are located in the Journal section of the Web site.
