GLOBALIZATION OF MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION INDUSTRY REQUIRES PROPER RISK ANALYSIS

AHIMA AND CARE COMMUNICATIONS, INC. TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR TRANSITION TO E-HIM™

CHICAGO, March 1—The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) announces its partnership with Care Communications, Inc. to sponsor Renaissance for the 21st Century: Leading the Change to e-HIM™—an eight-week program designed to provide health information management (HIM) professionals the leadership skills necessary to transition to electronic health information management (e-HIM™).

“The healthcare industry is gong to need people who not only understand HIM, but also possess the skills necessary to help lead their organizations through the transition to e-HIM™,” stated Sandy Fuller, MA, RHIA, AHIMA’s senior vice president and COO. “This program teaches the leadership skills and change management processes needed to direct implementation of electronic health record (EHR) components.”

"This is the first leadership development program of its kind specifically created for HIM professionals, addressing the challenges of the significant paradigm shift in the 75-year history of the HIM profession", says Leslie Ann Fox, MA, RHIA, president and CEO of Care Communications, Inc.

The eight-week program begins with a two-day seminar at AHIMA’s headquarters in Chicago. At the seminar, attendees will develop a personal action plan for their personal and professional leadership development. In the weeks following, they will work on their personal action plans in their work setting, as well as meet individually with one of the program’s leadership coaches three times via telephone to discuss their experiences in applying the leadership principles.

The two-day seminar will be offered in Chicago on the following dates:

  • March 22 – 23
  • May 17 – 18
  • June 7 – 8
  • November 15 – 16

The cost of the program, including leadership coaching, is $945 for AHIMA members and $1145 for nonmembers. After completion, attendees will receive 15 continuing education credits. For additional information or registration, visit AHIMA’s Web site at http://www.ahima.org/renaissance/. e-HIM is the term created by AHIMA to represent the future reality of health information.
