CHICAGO, February 5, 2008 — Technology is essential in the fast-changing healthcare industry. Enterprise content and records management (ECRM) introduces a new way for organizations to manage critical enterprise information, according to an article in the February issue of the Journal of AHIMA.
ECRM is the strategy, technology and processes for managing information assets facilitated by information technology. The article defines each one of these required components to implement a successful ECRM program.
The question of why an organization should incorporate ECRM is answered in a list of benefits that fall into three major categories: Efficiency and productivity; governance and compliance; and competitive advantage.
Additionally, two sidebars are included with the article: a glossary of terminology; and an example of a university implementing a new ECRM system to improve efficiency and accuracy.
