About

Mission Statement

Perspectives in Health Information Management is a scholarly, peer-reviewed research journal whose mission is to advance health information management practice and to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between HIM professionals and others in disciplines supporting the advancement of the management of health information. The primary focus is to promote the linkage of practice, education, and research and to provide contributions to the understanding or improvement of health information management processes and outcomes.

PHIM Indexed in PubMed Central

AHIMA is proud to announce that its online open-access research journal, Perspectives in Health Information Management has been indexed in PubMed Central. PubMed Central is the National Institutes of Health’s digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature. PHIM Announces New Co-editors

Perspectives in Health Information Management, AHIMA’s online, open-access research journal, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new co-editors. C. Andrew Brown, MD, MPH, is a professor of medicine and the director of the patient safety center at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. William J. Rudman, PhD, is a professor of health information management at the University of Mississippi medical Center in Jackson, MS.

Both Brown and Rudman have served on the editorial review board of PHIM since its inception in 2004 and bring with them a wealth of knowledge, publication experience, and a combined total of more than 21 years in HIM. PHIM Selected for Inclusion in MEDLINE

AHIMA is proud to announce that its online open-access research journal, Perspectives in Health Information Management has been selected by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to be indexed in MEDLINE.

Launched in January 2004, Perspectives in Health Information Management will soon be included in MEDLINE along with the Journal of AHIMA which was accepted for indexing in MEDLINE in 1991.

The NLM uses an advisory committee, the Literature Selection Technical Review Committee, composed of selected experts in the field of biomedicine, to review and recommend the journal titles NLM should index. Perspectives in Health Information Management journal content that will soon be indexed for MEDLINE will not only include forthcoming articles, but also all articles which have been published in the journal since our launch.
