Strategic Transformational Change: An e-HIM® Challenge

Care Communications

| Course Info. | Faculty | Hotel/Transportation | Registration |

Leading the transformation of HIM to e-HIM® requires not only content knowledge but also leadership and change management skills. HIM leaders must understand how to develop their transformational change plans in a way that motivates their department, and other departments affected by the e-HIM® transformation, to accept change while creatively building new processes.

The leader must also take advantage of this significant transformation as their opportunity to get a seat at the EHR strategy table. This is a pivotal point in the career of most HIM leaders as there will be many new opportunities that will emerge as a result of the EHR but may not be available to the HIM leader if she is not recognized as one of the organizations leaders.  You, better than anyone else in your organization, understand the importance of record integrity and what it will take to ensure it.  Now is the time, take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to enhance your leadership capabilities and become a recognized leader in your organization.

Traditional change management models focus mainly on strategy and tactics, but give short shrift to the “people issues” that arise during the course of significant organizational change. Systems-based Leadership and Change Management™ is unique in that it focuses on the emotional side of change as well as strategy, tactics, and tools to lead change.  This seminar will introduce you to a high level framework from which you can develop the strategies that will help you engage others in planning, designing, and implementing new e-HIM® processes across the health system.  You will learn how to think more strategically as you gain an understanding of the principles of change management, transition management and leadership related to creating sustained improvement.

What You’ll Take Away

  • The eight step model of change applicable to all e-HIM® and EHR projects
  • The HIM leadership role from a systems based perspective
  • Patterns of behavior that sabotage change and how to overcome them in your projects
  • Navigating the phases of transition that all people go through when making a change
  • Key project management tools that are essential to every e-HIM® and EHR project
