Dedicated volunteers are the strength and engagement of AHIMA. The time and energy devoted as a volunteer leader benefits the health information management

profession, helping AHIMA to grow and prepare for the future.  It is this dedicated effort that has built AHIMA into a prominent organization. This July join AHIMA for the Community Education Coordinator Session (by invitation only), Summer Team Talks, Leadership Conference and the Coding

Roundtable Summit in Chicago, Illinois. 

The professional experience, dedication and ingenuity that you bring with you to Chicago are what will make this exciting lineup of meetings successful.  With your

presence, we can further strengthen AHIMA’s leadership position in HIM, leadership development, and personal health records, as well as influence key national

objectives related to coding consistency and set the future course of coding related policies.  Your direct input matters, and enables AHIMA to thrive as a “member responsive” organization, ready to support your professional interests in these evolving and exciting times.

Community Education Coordinator Session (by invitation only)

"It's HI Time! And we've come a long way: An evaluation and next steps for the PHR campaign."

The Community Education Coordinator working session will focus on the progress and next steps for the PHR campaign. The group will review the progress of the

PHR campaign since the January 2008 launch. All components of the campaign will be evaluated -- from media coverage to speaking engagements -- to help

determine the success of each activity and its contribution to the campaign. This process will help determine potential improvements and additions to our campaign

activity for the second half of 2008. Everyone will have the opportunity to provide feedback and help shape the future of the PHR campaign. The session is by

invitation only.

Summer Team Talks

Summer Team Talks are a one-day interactive and educational conference that bring the AHIMA leadership together to discuss current and future AHIMA activities

and strategy. This will provide you with an opportunity to engage in dialogue that will set the strategic direction of the HIM profession and the association.

Leadership Conference

The Leadership Conference is a 1½-day educational event for CSA presidents and president-elects.  The conference is designed to prepare CSA leadership for

their roles and responsibilities running a state.  AHIMA invites speakers in the areas of leadership, futurists, management, etc.  In addition to speakers, there are

breakout sessions in the areas of advocacy, board best practices, public relations, finance, strategic planning, meetings management, volunteerism and recruitment.

Coding Roundtable Summit

The Sunday afternoon feature will start with the Coding Roundtable Summit designed for AHIMA Coding Community Volunteer Leadership or interested CSA leaders. This meeting is designed to provide information and training to conduct successful local coding roundtable sessions. Discussions will include best practices and creative approaches for organizing successful coding roundtable sessions. In addition you will have the opportunity to network with your peers about the challenges, ideas, successes, and goals for these roundtable meetings. Finally, the afternoon will wrap up with strategic planning for 2008/2009.
