HIM Professionals and EMR Systems
Throughout the long history of AHIMA, the organization and its members have been dedicated to improving the quality and standards related to medical records. EMR systems also provide new degrees of flexibility in terms of real-time updating and access, all while adhering to HIPAA guidelines relative to privacy and confidentiality in healthcare. The ability of HIM professionals to incorporate the skills necessary to navigate the evolution from paper medical records to EMR systems is not only valuable, it is becoming increasingly necessary.
