Educational Opportunities for ICD-10
AHIMA offers many education and training opportunities to give you the competitive edge needed for ICD-10-CM/PCS implementation. As an added benefit, members receive special discounted pricing. At this point in the implementation timeline - phase one impact assessment - education and training activities should focus on issues related to preparedness and implementation planning. This includes understanding the final rule and implementation timelines, a fundamental knowledge of the changes in the new code sets, ensuring proficiency in anatomy and physiology, and acquiring the skills and tools needed to assess staff knowledge and skills.
As we move towards 2013, an ever-growing pool of AHIMA-approved trainers can help you prepare, and new products and programs are being added regularly. Check back often for access to all of AHIMA’s newest ICD-10 resources.

AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainers
Training Programs and Resources
Experience a dynamic training program that teaches coding professionals how to become proficient in coding with the ICD-10-CM/PCS coding systems while preparing them to train other coding professionals in these systems. The academy includes a combination of online courses (self-paced) and face-to-face training, offered at several locations and dates throughout the year.
This ready-made presentation kit provides everything needed to deliver a presentation that will provide an overview to prepare for the implementation of ICD-10-CM/PCS. The presentation provides a brief overview of similarities and differences between the ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM/PCS classification systems to set the stage for preparation. In addition, implementation issues due to ICD-10 are covered so the speaker’s audience will be able to identify next steps for their organizations to be prepared for ICD-10 implementation.
