Technology Tip #5 - Web 101

More and more business interactions, not to mention personal and leisure activities, are now being conducted on-line.  Although the Internet is an increasingly valuable tool for both professional and personal use, it is also increasingly complex.  This can make it a little confusing or intimidating, especially for the novice user.  To assist you in getting the most out of your Internet experience with AHIMA, we have made available a free on line course, Web 101.

In just a few minutes, Web 101 takes you through a user-friendly, step-by-step interactive course, packed with information and tips to make your Net experience an enjoyable and productive one.  Among the things you’ll learn are:

  • Common terminology of the internet, including our extensive glossary of terms
  • The basics of how data transmission works on line
  • Tips on how to navigate the Web easily and efficiently
  • Understanding E-mail and Internet Service Providers
  • How best to work with search engines

In short, the course provides everything you need to know to be able to easily access not only the resources available at www.ahima.org, but also to make the most of the wealth of other information and resources available to you on line.

And it’s not only for beginners!  Even more experienced users will find information of interest to them, and useful tips on how to make the most of their time on the Internet.  Not only that, but the format in which it is presented will show you how easy and convenient on line learning is with AHIMA, and once you have completed Web 101, we encourage you to take a look at our other courses as well.

Best of all, it’s completely free of charge! Just visit our Continuing Education Web page at http://campus.ahima.org, and look for the link for “Web 101: Introduction to the Internet” in the free courses section to the lower right of the screen.

We hope that you will find this resource a useful one.  As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us either by e-mail at info@ahima.org or by telephone to our Customer Relations team at (800) 335-5535.
