Grant-in-Aid Research Awards

Deadline March 24 and September 22, 2006

Application*

The FORE Grant-in-Aid program is directed toward supporting the development of HIM professionals as leaders in defining and validating the unique body of knowledge encompassed by HIM. The results of these studies not only provide information for the HIM professional to apply in meeting current and future challenges, but also support policy initiatives and the redefinition of the roles of HIM practitioners.

Guidelines and Eligibility

The primary or secondary investigator must be an active, associate, or student member of AHIMA. Each recipient shall be limited to one funded grant per year. Ordinarily, the scope of the proposal shall be such that it can be completed within 18 months from the date of funding. There are no minimum or maximum grant request expectations, but the range of grants historically has been between $15,000 and $40,000. Submissions that address one or more of the AHIMA research priorities will receive priority consideration for funding.

Application Submission and Deadlines

The deadline for submission of proposals is March 24, 2006, for the spring review and September 22, 2006, for the fall review. Resubmissions may be submitted any time within 90 days of resubmission notification.  Final award notification will take place within six weeks of the application deadline. Applications should be mailed to FORE Grant-in-Aid Awards, Foundation of Research and Education, AHIMA, 233 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 2150, Chicago, IL 60601-5809.

The Grant-in-Aid application, guidelines and instructions are available online as a PDF document*. For further information, contact FORE at (312) 233-1100 or fore@ahima.org.
