Student Poster Competition

2008 First Annual Undergraduate and Graduate Student Research Poster Competition

Health Information Management and Health Informatics

 

 

The Foundation of Education and Research of AHIMA is seeking undergraduate and graduate student research for a poster competition to be displayed and presented at AHIMA’s Annual Convention in Seattle, Washington, October 13-15, 2008. Compete for a prize of $600 for the best undergraduate poster or $600 for the best graduate student poster. Prize money is for travel expenses to the annual convention where the winning posters will be displayed and presented. Four honorable mentions will also be displayed. It is expected that the winners will be able to attend the annual convention.

 

Application Procedures: Apply in the form of a letter to be sent as an attachment by email sent to Carol Nielsen (carol.nielsen@ahima.org), please include the following:

 

  • A poster title and the PowerPoint template (see below) for the poster. 
  • E-mail address, phone number, and surface mail address of poster author;
  • Name of school, department, and degree program where you are enrolled;
  • A letter of support from a faculty member associated with the project. (The letter of support must accompany the application letter. It can be scanned and sent as an attachment.)

Deadlines: All application materials must be received by June 1, 2008. Poster review and scoring will take place during June and applicants will be notified by email in early July if they won the competition or are an honorable mention. 

 

Logistics for Winners and Honorable Mentions: FORE will print the winning posters. Those who will display posters will provide a PowerPoint according to appropriate specifications to the sign making company. FORE will pay for printing and shipping the winning posters to the convention. FORE staff will mount the posters at the convention. Poster winners will be available during poster/lunch session to talk with interested attendees.

 

Format: Poster size will be 36”x 60.”
