Afternoon Arrival, Policy Briefing, and Reception

Because of our early start on Tuesday, March 24, if you are not attending AHIMA’s Winter Team Talks, all attendees are strongly urged to arrive in Washington, DC, early Monday afternoon to get settled and, if possible, take in a quick site or two.  An in-depth policy briefing at the conclusion of Team Talks will occur on Monday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m. (EST) A Hill Day/Team Talks reception will follow shortly thereafter.

7 a.m. Breakfast Briefing

Capitol Hill Day begins with a breakfast briefing for all attendees at the event hotel. The briefing includes an orientation on the day’s activities by AHIMA's Policy and Government Relations team, in addition to a quick review of AHIMA’s advocacy agenda, distribution of materials to present to your congressional representatives, and a question and answer session for any last minute concerns.

9  a.m. Congressional Appointments
Once the breakfast briefing has concluded, AHIMA members will proceed to Capitol Hill and their appointments with the members of their own congressional delegation. AHIMA will supply materials and directions for these meetings. Members will be on their own, or perhaps with other attendees from their own states, to attend these appointments.

Please plan to remain on Capitol Hill until at least 4 p.m.

Upon arrival, after collecting your luggage, proceed to the SuperShuttle ticket counters located in Terminal B and C baggage claim area located next to doors 4 and 9. Ticket counters are open daily from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM. Guests arriving in Terminal A should proceed outside to the SuperShuttle loading area immediately outside the Terminal A door. Outside of these hours please call 800-258-3826 for assistance.

Metrorail

Approximately $4 round trip

The Washington, DC Metrorail system has an elevated Metrorail station connected to the concourse level of terminals B and C at Reagan National Airport. Metrorail fare cards may be purchased at machines locates at all entrances to the Airport Metrorail station. The station is also fully accessible via elevators.

Take the Blue Line towards Largo Town Center and get off at Foggy Bottom. Walk North across Washington Circle onto New Hampshire Ave. The hotel is located at New Hampshire Ave. and M Street.

Taxi

Approximately $15 one way

Taxicab stands are conveniently located near the Arrivals (baggage claim) exits of each terminal. Dispatchers at each stand will help you select a taxicab based on your destination in Washington DC, Virginia, or Maryland. No advance reservations are required—service is on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here for a chart of approximate taxi rates from the airport. Please consult your taxicab operator regarding fares for taxi trips back to the airport.

Driving Directions

Following signs to Washington, DC, onto George Washington Memorial Parkway. Stay left avoiding all right hand exits until the Arlington Memorial Bridge. Enter the city while crossing the bridge, stay in the left hand lane. Make first left turn onto 23rd St. Take 23rd Street to Washington Circle. Follow Washington Circle and take a right turn off the Circle onto New Hampshire Avenue. The hotel will be on your right.

Metrorail

Metrorail is the region’s rapid-transit system, providing access to Downtown Washington, DC and other destinations. A rail line to Dulles Airport is currently in the design phase. At present, the nearest Metrorail station is the West Falls Church Station on the Orange Line. Direct transportation to this station is available from the Washington Flyer Coach Service. Enjoy a comfortable, climate-controlled ride equipped with reclining seats and ample luggage space. Each coach is handicapped accessible. Buses depart approximately every 30 minutes and boarding announcements are made inside the airport.

How to connect to the Metrorail system from Dulles Airport:
Purchase a ticket (one-way or round-trip) at the Washington Flyer Coach ticket counter located at Arrivals Door #4 in the Main Terminal. Travelers will also board the Coach from this location. The buses depart approximately every 30 minutes but please listen for announcements for exact bus departure times. Click here for schedule and ticket prices. You may purchase a Metrorail fare card inside the train station at the West Falls Church Metro stop where you will board the train. Trains bound for "New Carrollton" will take you towards Downtown Washington, DC. Washington Flyer Taxicabs serve Dulles International Airport exclusively with 24-hour service to and from the airport. The BWI taxi stand is located just outside of the baggage claim area of the Lower Level of the BWI Marshall Airport Terminal. Please note that this service is available from BWI only.
