Health information management (HIM) in physician practices presents unique and interesting challenges for HIM professionals. Members who work or otherwise have an interest in this setting are invited to join AHIMA’s Physician Practice Council for an in-depth discussion and environmental scan. This interactive session encourages and stimulates dialogue about the hottest topics affecting the physician practice arena today. Long Term Care Forum:
1–2:30 p.m.
The LTC and Rehab sectors will rely on trained HIM professionals to lead implementation and process improvement efforts for ICD-10-CM. In addition to providing implementation planning, this session moves beyond an overview, evaluates how common conditions are coded in ICD-10-CM, and discusses the related impact on documentation. Roles and processes unique to LTC and rehab will be discussed, in addition to early plans for training the sector and how interested members can participate in this nationwide effort. The need for cancer registrars continues to grow as the demand for quality data management increases.
