Tanai S. Nelson provides professional practice support for products and services related to coding and reimbursement, including seminars, publications, and Web-based training content and development. As a practice resources specialist, Nelson works closely with AHIMA’s audio seminar/webinar faculty in the development, creation, and delivery of resource materials as a content advisor.
Nelson has over 10 years experience in multiple healthcare settings, including physician practice, hospital outpatient care, and hospital acute care in various coding and reimbursement roles. Prior to joining the staff in 2009, Nelson volunteered for AHIMA in various capacities for over five years, most notably as a facilitator for several of the coding-related communities.
Nelson is actively involved in the health information management (HIM) field. In an effort to ensure coding professionals' continued success, Nelson currently provides coding education as an adjunct instructor at Colorado Technical University Online and serves as the facilitator of the Illinois CoP.
