Joan Daniel, RHIA Site Compliance Officer, Physician Groups/Other Entities Advocate Health Care

Joan Daniel is a corporate compliance site compliance officer for Advocate Health Care in Oak Brook, IL. She is responsible for the oversight of physician, home health, and long-term acute care hospital compliance activities. Prior to joining Advocate Health Care, she served the University of Chicago Medical Center in the role of director, compliance audit services in the Office of Medical Center Compliance.

Ms. Daniel has 27 years of healthcare experience that encompasses leadership, and technical abilities in regulatory compliance, health information management (HIM), physician and provider education, and reimbursement strategies. Her experience also includes OIG corporate integrity agreement follow-up and resolution, multi-site compliance risk assessments, auditing and monitoring, provider compliance education, and coding education.
 
Ms. Daniel has written coding and compliance articles for AHIMA and has also been the recipient of the ILHIMA Ambassador to Education Award.
