We hope you and your CSA will send officers to this important meeting as well as encourage your members to attend. Imagine seeing HIM professionals all across the offices of Congress at the same time with the same message. Anything you can do to assist us in raising the roof and “Marching on the Hill” on April 8 will be greatly appreciated. Winter Team Talks is scheduled for the day before, so attendees will be able to take in two very important meetings at the same time and in the same trip. There will be opportunities for advocacy, input, leadership, and education, with some sightseeing possibilities as well.

Pre-meeting Appointment Process
AHIMA’s Policy and Government Relations team will attempt to set up appointments for all AHIMA members coming to Capitol Hill Day to visit with their respective Congressional Delegation. To make the most of this visit, we look for appointments that can be made with members of Congress who represent both the area where you live (and vote) as well as those who represent the area where you work, if different. As you can imagine the appointment process can get very complicated, so please return the Registration Form at the earliest moment to give us a better chance of scheduling your appointments. We will not be able to handle any appointment scheduling for those registering after March 18, 2008.
Please email Jean.schlichting@ahima.org with your flight information as soon as it is available. Any flights out of DC on April 8 should be as late as possible.
In addition to the materials that we will provide for you at the beginning of Capitol Hill Day, AHIMA will also be posting materials for your review and preparation.

Breakfast Briefing
Capitol Hill Day will begin with a breakfast briefing for all attendees.

Scheduled Congressional Appointments
Once the Breakfast Briefing is concluded, AHIMA members will proceed to their appointments with the members of their own Congressional Delegation. AHIMA will supply materials and directions for these meetings. Members will be on their own, or perhaps with other attendees from their own states, to attend these appointments.
