AHIMA’s Prior Approval Program is meant for companies interested in providing continuing education units (CEUs) to AHIMA credential holders. AHIMA encourages companies to apply to be recognized as an AHIMA Prior Approval Program if they are conducting an educational session that would meet one of the following domains: Technology; Management Development; Clinical Data Management; Performance Improvement; External Forces; Clinical Foundations. Prior Approval Program Applications

Earlier this year AHIMA began taking steps to better protect your data and improve the security and privacy of customer information. As part of this effort, effective November 1st we will no longer accept paper applications. In addition, after December 1 we will no longer accept paper checks. We will be transitioning to an ACH system at the beginning of 2020, which will allow you to pay via electronic fund transfer. Until we make this transition, we will only accept credit cards.

Online Prior Approval Application- Using the online application will decrease your application processing time. Reviews take approximately 4 weeks to complete. Approval letters will be sent via email to the address indicated on the application form. To complete the online form, log into your personal MyAHIMA account and click on “Submit Prior Approvals” located under the “Education and Certification” section.
Paper Prior Approval Application- To pay by check, please download and complete the paper application. Include the completed application, supporting documentation, and payment information with submission. This process will take between four to six weeks. Approval letters will be sent via email to the address indicated on the application form.
Search for AHIMA Prior Approved Educational Programs – Find programs based on company name, format, content, and location. Log into your MyAHIMA account and click on “Search Prior Approvals” located under the “Education and Certification” section.
