AHIMA Call for Volunteers

Why volunteer with AHIMA? Getting involved in your professional association provides benefits for you and for your profession!

Get Motivated!
What motivates you to volunteer? A study conducted by the ASAE found people volunteer for the following reasons:
  • Values – to express or act on important values like humanitarianism
  • Understanding – to learn more about the world or exercise skills that are unused
  • Enhancement – to grow and develop psychologically
  • Career – to gain career-related experience
  • Social – to strengthen social relationships
  • Protective – to reduce negative feelings or to address personal problems
Feel Satisfied!
The study also noted volunteers feel satisfied by:
  • Giving back to your professional field
  • Socializing with peers
  • Working towards a common goal
  • Using your skills

A Facilitator's main job is to monitor activity within the Community, encourage member participation, and organize Community events (whether virtual or face-to-face) by viewing the page at least every few days.  Several Facilitators can share facilitation responsibilities.
