Event
Join more than 400 faculty members from across the globe at AHIMA’s Faculty Development Institute (FDI) and Assembly on Education (AOE) Symposium. Educators from all academic levels are coming together to share ideas, network, and set the stage for the future of health information management (HIM) education. This is a critical time. ICD-10-CM/PCS will soon be taught as a primary coding classification, and the addition of the ONC HITECH curriculum to the national model curricula for HIM is under consideration.

The FDI/AOE Symposium is a premier health information education event, offering key information on curricula design, online distance education, accreditation, and leadership. Build teaching skills, review best practices in the classroom, receive an in-depth review of professional practice experience plans, and take advantage of the event’s opportunities to:
  • Learn about 50 topics with more than 100 educators as guest speakers
  • Earn up to 28 CEUs
  • Network and share best practices with colleagues
  • Build educator skills through the focused, two-day FDI
  • Explore new products and ideas in the AOE exhibit area

This year, a special Educator’s Collaborative on the Roadmap to 2012: The Future State of HIM Education focuses on actions to advance HIM education through group discussion. This is a can’t-miss event!
