Description
Understand the definition and intent of diagnostic angiography and when these services may be billed in conjunction with transcatheter therapies. We’ll explore clinical issues and CPT coding guidelines for specific therapeutic interventional radiology including angioplasty and stent placement, thrombectomy, thrombolysis and dialysis access maintenance. We’ll also review relevant CPT coding guidelines, correct modifier usage, and required clinical documentation to accurately report IVR procedures as well.
Objectives
- Clearly explain when diagnostic angiography and therapeutic interventions may be reported during the same encounter
- Review clinical issues and CPT coding guidelines for designated therapeutic interventional radiology procedures including angioplasty and stent placement, thrombectomy, thrombolysis and dialysis access maintenance
- Provide specific IVR clinical documentation requirements, relevant CPT coding guidelines and modifier usage
- Deliver case scenarios that illustrate best coding and compliance practices
